Slate & tile roofing
Slate and tile roofs, laid the traditional way
New roofs, re-roofs and repairs in natural slate, clay and concrete tile, for homes and commercial buildings across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.
01 What we do
Four kinds of work on a pitched roof
We've roofed on the Fylde Coast for more than 40 years, on houses and commercial buildings. If a repair will do, we'll say so before anyone talks about a new roof.

01
New roofs & re-roofs
Complete installations and re-roofs for homes and commercial buildings: stripped back, new membrane and battens, then slate or tile.

-
02
Slate roofing
Natural slate laid, re-laid and repaired, with new slates matched to the old where only part of a roof needs doing.

-
03
Tile roofing
Clay and concrete tiles: new roofs, re-roofs, and broken or slipped tiles replaced to match.

-
04
Repairs & maintenance
Slipped slates, ridge tiles, leaks, moss removal, gutter clearing and lead flashing repairs.

02 Materials
Slate, clay or concrete, matched to the house
On a repair we match what's already on the roof. On a new roof or re-roof, we'll talk you through which covering suits the house.
-

01Natural Slate
Split natural stone in double-lapped courses. It's the original covering on many of the Victorian and Edwardian houses we work on, and it can be repaired a slate at a time.
- Fixing
- Nailed or hooked to battens
- Suits
- Older terraces, semis and bays
-

02Clay Tiles
Fired clay, so the colour runs right through and weathers in slowly. Laid new, used for re-roofs, or matched tile for tile on a repair.
- Types
- Plain and interlocking
- Suits
- Period and newer houses
-

03Concrete Tiles
Larger and interlocking at the sides, so a roof needs fewer of them. A practical, hard-wearing choice for re-roofs and extensions, in several profiles and colours.
- Fixing
- Interlocking, clipped and nailed
- Suits
- Re-roofs and extensions
03 A re-roof, step by step
From scaffold to ridge
Photographed on our own jobs. When a roof is past repairing, this is how the new one goes on.
-
01Survey and free quote
We look at the roof, tell you plainly whether it needs repairs or a new roof, and give you a clear quote in writing.
-
02Scaffold and strip
Scaffold goes up and the old slates or tiles come off, so the timbers can be checked before anything new goes on.
-
03Membrane and battens
A new breathable membrane is laid and battened at the right gauge for the slate or tile going on.
-
04Slating or tiling
Courses go on from the eaves up, cut and fixed around chimneys, valleys and hips, to current building standards.
-
05Ridges, hips and lead
Ridge and hip tiles are bedded, and lead is dressed at abutments, chimneys and valleys.
-
06Clear up and hand over
Scaffold down, the site cleared, and the finished roof checked with you.
